Testing – ATTO Disk Benchmark & CrystalDiskMark
Next up we have ATTO Disk Benchmark that measures transfer rates across specific lengths.
The Vertex 2 is pretty much on par with the Corsair F100, which is expected as they are based on the same hardware. CrystalDiskMark is our next test and it has a sequential read / write test as well as a 512k and 4k random read / write test.
The Vertex 2 and Corsair F100 are pretty close in this test, but the Vertex 2 edges out the F100 in write speeds.
Ehm… “For comparison we will be testing the C300 against these 2 other drives…”
Should this say: “For comparison we will be testing the 'Vertex 2 Extended' against these 2 other drives…”

OCZ Vertex2 120G SSD does not have 13% reserve space but 8%. The “real” chip size is 128. A 100G has 28% reserve space.
8G of 120G is 6.6% only.
The NAND density is actually 2^37 or 137,438,953,472 Bytes.
The drive density is 120,034,123,776 Bytes.
That’s 12.66%.

I just picked up this drive to put in my MacBook Pro. Got it for $199cdn after rebate. Man the prices sure have dropped on these things. Can’t wait till they get to $1/GB or less! 😉
