ROCCAT Vulcan II MAX Gaming Keyboard Review

Lighting

The Vulcan II MAX has some of the best lighting that I’ve seen on a keyboard! A lot of this has to do with the low-profile keycaps, but also how the translucent palm rest works in conjunction with the lighting. Below the first couple of photos are with the lights on and the rest are with the lights off.

And for those who are wondering what the keyboard looks like without the palm rest installed.

Software

The Vulcan II MAX will work not problem once you plug it in, but if you want to do any real type of customization you’ll need to download the ROCCAT Swarm software. When you open the software up you’ll see a list of your ROCCAT connected devices at the top. Clicking on the Vulcan II MAX we are brought to General Features. Here we can set things like sound feedback, character repeat, and we can reset the keyboard to its factory settings.

The next tab is Key Assignment. Here we can completely reprogram the keyboard. You have simple remaps like other keys on the keyboard, OS function, and shortcuts, but there is also an entire Macro editor.

The last tab is Key Illumination. Here we can set the lighting effect on the keyboard and the brightness of the lighting. You can either adjust the setting for the entire keyboard or go into custom mode and adjust the lighting per-key.
