If the custom mechanical keyboard niche wasn’t quite specific enough for you already, maybe a keyboard based on the Lord of the Rings property is. That’s right, we are back with another LOTR keyboard from Drop, we first took a look at the Elvish keyboard, but this time we are taking sides with the creator of the One Ring himself – Sauron, and showing off the Black Speech version. This is the third LOTR keyboard from Drop, based on their ENTR line of keyboards, and offers some very premium features like an aluminum body, PBT keycaps, Holy Panda X switches, and more. Packed with tons of Lord of the Rings design work, this menacing keyboard might line up just right with your fantasy world needs. Follow along to find out!

The Black Speech keyboard is contained in a pretty standard cardboard box, but happens to be wrapped in a pretty cool sleeve that shows a map of Middle-Earth. As someone that has always been a fan of maps, especially for the fantasy and imaginary worlds from franchises like LOTR and World of Warcraft, this extra touch was a pretty cool feature for me.
With the inner box out of the sleeve, we have a pretty standard unboxing from this point on, with they keyboard itself resting within the box, and the included accessories just below it.
Those accessories include a handful, seven to be exact, of extra red keycaps to further modify your desk setup. Additionally, there is a keycap puller and USB Type-A to Type-C cable for connectivity. This is one spot where I think Drop could have improved on a bit – it would have been great to at least have provided a braided cable with this keyboard, as opposed to a standard rubber/plastic cable that you might expect from your average keyboard. Also included is an informational card to help you get started with the keyboard.
