It has been rumored that Samsung could be releasing a new smartphone with a foldable display, as early as January 2016. This report comes from SamMobile, who has a very good track record of Samsung rumors. According to their source Samsung will be offering this device in two different models, one with a Snapdragon 620 and one with a Snapdragon 820. Both models will have 3GB of RAM, a microSD slot, and a built-in battery.
The North American market is dominated by Apple, Huawei, and Xiaomi. Samsung is making efforts to reaffirm their identify with their S-Pen and curved displays. Having a device like this would definitely help that effort.
The foldable display has been in the works at Samsung for almost a decade, the company even showcased an early prototype of its foldable screen technology back in 2008.
