Setup & Included Software
Getting this drive setup is quite simple, just plug in the power then plug it in to an open USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 port. Our drive does have the USB 3.0 port, but it is backwards compatible so it will work just fine on a USB 2.0 port as well. If you are on a Windows system the drive will automatically pop up and be recognized. This is a 2TB drive, but only 1.81TB of it is available and out of the 1.81TB 377MB is being used for the included software and drivers.
Once you install the supplied software the Seagate Dashboard comes up. Here it will show your connected Seagate drives and the applications you can use with them. There is a drive settings feature that allows you to change the power settings, LED settings, run a drive test and get all the information on the drive.
Memeo Instant Backup is the first piece of included software with the FreeAgent GoFlex drive. It gives you the ability to instantly backup your entire system (all the files on your C: drive). If you go in to the advanced options you can actually select the drives or folders you want to backup. You also can choose if you want your backup to be encrypted.
Memeo AutoSync allows you to effortlessly sync files between your system and your external drives, removable drives and even a network drive. All you do is select a 2 folders to be synchronized and you a pretty much good to go. When a file is changed on the source folder it is automatically synced with the destination folder.
Memeo Send is a secure and easy was to send files to friend, family members and anyone over the Internet. You are able to send files up to 100mb for free using the service. Files are stored at Memeo’s data center for up to 2 weeks. You are able to track the files and see who has downloaded them.
Memeo Share is a unique sharing program that allows you to share photos a videos with friends and family. You can create different circles for friends, family, clients etc.
