Software & Lighting
When you plug in either the keyboard or wireless dongle you’ll be asked to download the SteelSeries GG software. We will mainly be focusing on the Engine section of the software. In the Engine section you should see all of the SteelSeries devices you have connected to your PC. On the Apex Pro Mini Wireless section it does show you the battery level of the keyboard and how it is connected. You can also easily set each configuration for your devices from a drop-down menu.
Clicking into the Apex Pro Mini Wireless we are first brought to the Key Bindings section. Here we can reprogram all of the keys on the keyboard. To reprogram a key all you have to do is click on it. You can select another key on the keyboard, a macro, mouse buttons and much more.
The next tab is Actuation. Here we can set the actuation for each key. As you can see we have all of the keys selected. SteelSeries makes it easy for you to select all of the keys or a combination of keys so you can make changes to a lot of keys easily. You can set the actuation point anywhere from 0.2mm to 3.8mm.
The next page is Dual Bindings. Here you set the alternate binding you want for a second actuation point. After that is Dual Actuation, where you set the actuation for that dual binding. The actuation point here has to be lower than the primary actuation point.
Meta Bindings is where you can set alternate bindings for when you hold down the function key on the keyboard. SteelSeries has already set all of the ones for you that have legends on the keyboard.
Finally under Settings you can set the keyboard region as well as the sleep timer.
At the top of the Engine window there is a prompt to change the illumination of the device. Clicking this brings you into your illumination settings here you can set per-key illumination effects. What is really cool is that you can set configure the active, reactive, and idle lighting layers on the keyboard.
The lighting is what you would expect from a gaming keyboard these days.
