Thermaltake BlacX 5G USB 3.0 Hard Drive Docking Station Review

Final Thoughts
As I said in the introduction of this review a hard drive dock is something every system builder and most computer users should have.  I’ve had the original BlacX for 2 years now and it has come in handy so many times.  When Windows installations would fail and I needed to grab some files off the hard drive, when a friends computer would die and they needed me to backup their files, when transferring large files from drive to drive.  Whenever I needed to grab something off a hard drive the BlacX has been there to make it simple and easy.

The BlacX 5G makes that experience even better with USB 3.0 connectivity and much faster speeds.  With a speed difference of 157.9MB/s read and 146.3MB/s write in our testing you are sure going to be able to transfer things much faster with the BlacX 5G.  The design quality is good and this docking station works with both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch drives so you are set.

Right now the BlacX 5G sells for around $50 at my favorite online retailer, which considering the speed boost you get is a good price.  Also keep in mind this is one of the only hard drive docks that does support SATA 6G drives.  Overall ThinkComputers gives the Thermaltake BlacX 5G USB 3.0 Hard Drive Docking Station a 10 out of 10 score.
