While lots of slot games are original creations, some of them are branded titles that borrow themes and concepts from existing IPs. Pokemon
Pokemon will probably never make it into an online slot because of the franchise’s child-friendly approach. Lots of slot games have a collection feature where a particular symbol collects the cash prizes displayed on other symbols. This feature could easily be adapted into a Pokemon-themed slot. The collector could be a Pokeball and the collected symbols could be legendary or mythical Pokemon. There could also be a feature where you collect winning Pokemon symbols to earn badges, with each badge triggering a mini game or bonus round with a gym leader.
The concepts of catching and battling Pokemon are key to the franchise, and both of these translate well into slot features. Though a Pokemon slot is very unlikely, developers would have lots of room for creativity if they ever had the chance to make one.
Wordle
When you play Wordle, you have to guess a five-letter word in six or fewer attempts. Every day, there’s a single puzzle for players to solve. After inputting your five letters, the colour of the tiles gives you hints. A grey tile means the letter isn’t in the word. If the tile is yellow, the letter is correct, but it’s in the wrong place. When the tile is green, the letter is correct and it’s in the right place.
If Wordle were to become a slot game, it would most likely retain its 5×6 grid and the colour scheme for the tiles. The symbols could be letters – perhaps the letters of Wordle – and a bonus feature could trigger if these six letters land on a horizontal line. The bonus feature could be something simple like a free spins round, or it could be a mini version of Wordle itself, where you have to guess a five-letter word, with a cash prize up for grabs if you win.
Scrabble
Another word-themed game that could become a slot is Scrabble. It’s a lot different from Wordle in that you’re not guessing a five-letter word; instead you’re using letter tiles to create words that you place on a board. What also makes them different is that Scrabble is mainly a board game (though digital versions exist) and it’s been around for many decades.
In a Scrabble slot, the regular paying symbols could be the seven letters used to spell the word Scrabble. There are certain positions on the Scrabble board that give extra points. In a slot, there could be positions that trigger special features if they have a winning symbol on them.
A special feature could be a respin round where all letters appear and they have point values, just like in the board game. The more points you earn, the bigger the cash prize you qualify for. There could even be bonus symbols that give you extra points or multiply the values of other symbols.
Sudoku
Sudoku is a puzzle game where your objective is to fill a 9×9 grid with numbers. The grid is split into nine 3×3 sub-sections, and each of these has to contain the numbers 1-9. What makes the game challenging is that the numbers 1-9 can only appear in each row and column once.
If Sudoku were to be made into an online slot, it could have a 3×3 grid to represent the nine subsections you fill with numbers. The regular symbols could be 1-9 ,and if all nine of them appear on the same spin, this could trigger the bonus game. A Sudoku-themed slot game could perhaps use an extra-large 9×9 grid where you have a number of respins to use. The more different numbers you end up with in each subsection, the more you would win.
Trivial Pursuit
The Trivial Pursuit board game is all about knowledge. Slots, on the other hand, don’t require you to know anything. All you have to do is spin the reels and hope for the best. Having said that, Trivial Pursuit could still be worked into a slot format. The base game could have a standard grid with symbols representing the six categories that Trivial Pursuit uses. These are Geography (blue), Entertainment (pink), History (yellow), Art & Literature (purple), Science & Nature (green) and Sports & Leisure (orange).
The slot could have six reels, and the bonus round could be triggered if all six segments land on a payline or even just any row. The bonus round could involve the player being asked actual trivia questions, and the more answers they get right, the more they win. Alternatively, it could just be luck-based and be a simple free spins or respins feature with enhancers such as expanding wilds and multipliers.
