My Book 3.0 Overview
The first thing that I noticed when I took the My Book 3.0 out of the box was how small it was compared to the older My Book drive that I used to have. The entire drive, enclose in all is not much larger than a normal SATA drive. The actual dimensions are 6.5” H x 5.3” D x 1.9” W.
You will notice the front of the drive is curved, it is made this way to make it look like book sitting on a shelf. You can really see this if you have multiple drives setup. The drive is all black and is pretty much plain except for the WD logo on the front of the drive.
Looking around back you can see the ventilation holes that run from the top of the drive all the way down the back. This will help keep the drive inside cool. Towards the bottom you have all of your connections which include a micro USB 3.0 connector, power connection and lock port. There is also a large power button. The micro USB 3.0 connector is something new we have been seeing on many USB 3.0 devices.
There are more ventilation holes towards the bottom of the drive. You can also see 2 rubber feet that will keep the drive from moving around on your desk.
