Why does the MacBook screen flicker sometimes?

Run a set of maintenance scripts

Disable true tone
For MacBooks 2018 or newer, you can also disable the True Tone technology. Sometimes this can lead to flickering. In order to disable it, you need to click on System Settings, Displays and then turn off True Tone from there.
See if there are loose connections
Sometimes you can have loose connections, like cables not being fully plugged. You should do a hardware check and see if everything is plugged in. That becomes quite common if you have an external display, so keep it in mind. Replug everything, if necessary.
Remove any duplicate color profiles
There are situations when these issues are generated by duplicate color profiles. You can go to the System Settings, choose Displays and here you can remove any duplicate profiles. Choose the Color LCD, which is normally the default, and then you can restart.
Change the Energy Saver settings
Another thing that you can do is to try and modify the Energy Saver settings. A good idea here is to enter the System Settings, then select the Battery options. Here you can untick the option Automatic Graphic Switching. Restarting is necessary, but you will see very quickly if the issue stops or not.
Update your Mac’s OS
Sometimes, an OS update can also help too. Go to the Apple menu, choose System Settings, then General and Software Update. That’s a great way to ensure you have your system up to date. Once you do that, you should solve some of the software-related issues that lead to the screen flickering randomly.
