Windows 7 Now Running on 55% of World’s Computers

November figures provided by market researcher StatCounter reveal that while the adoption of Windows 8.1 and Windows 8 have increased a little bit in the last 30 days, Windows 7 is still on top as its market share has reached a record 55.75 percent. That means that more than 1 in 2 computers are now powered by Windows 7.

Windows 7

Windows 7 was released in 2009 and will continue to receive support from Microsoft until 2020.

Windows 7 keeps increasing market share every month, mostly because more and more Windows XP users are finally jumping ship and looking for a platform the offers the same functionality and better security features. There is no doubt that Windows 7 is still much more popular than Windows 8 and 8.1. Many people are confused with the removal of the start menu that has been replaced with the start screen. Many Windows 8 users have actually reverted back to Windows 7 after trying Microsoft’s latest operating system.

Since its release in October 2012 Windows 8 has got a bad rap and Windows 7 has gained new users pretty much every month. Windows 8.1 currently has a market share of 12.12 percent, followed by Windows XP with 11.84 percent and Mac OSX with 8.98 percent.
