Xbox Team Developing Microsoft’s SmartWatch

We have been hearing about a SmartWatch from Microsoft for a little while now and The Verge has dug up some interesting information about it. Apparently the device has been in development for over a year now at Redmond Studios. Microsoft had originally planned to release a “Joule” heart rate monitor accessory for the Xbox, but the focus soon went to a smartwatch instead. That seemed like the logical choice as a smartwatch adds so much more functionality like working with Xbox Live, Windows Surface and Windows Smartphones.

The current prototype has the same 5-pin magnetic connection as current Surface devices have for data transfer. Reports also say Microsoft is sourcing 1.5-inch displays from an unnamed Asian manufacturer. What are your thoughts on a SmartWatch from Microsoft?

About 10 years of computer experience. Been messing around with electronics since I was 5, got into computers when I was in highschool, been modding them ever since then. Very interested in how things work and their design.
