AMD Announces the B450 Chipset

AMD has officially announced the B450 chipset for socket AM4 processor and APUs. It is set as a mid-range solution for the 400-series chipset family and motherboards in this range will be priced anywhere from $70 to $160. Like the X470 chipset it has lower TDP power draw so it runs cooler and make due with smaller heatsinks (compared to X370). It also has improved CPU VRM and memory wiring specifications which AMD introduced with the X470 chipset. B450 also supports XFR 2 "Enhanced" and Precision Boost Overdrive.

EA Ditches The On The House Program

EA's "On The House" program was where EA would give away a game for free or "on the house" for a limited time. While many of these games were older, they were still a free game to add to your library. Well it looks like EA will be ending this program. This announcement came alongside the launch of the new Origin Access Premier program, which gives gamers unlimited access to imminent-launch games five days before the official release.

AMD Threadripper II 2990X Listed for $1850 US, $2399 CAD

AMD's upcoming Ryzen Threadripper II 2990X has appeared on the Canadian hardware etailer CanadaComputers. The processor is listed for $2399 CAD, which when you convert it comes out to around $1850 USD. The product page appears to list the chip as a "in-store back order" so the pricing should be close to the final MSRP.

First Intel Core i9-9900K Benchmarks Appear, Beat Ryzen 7 2700X

Some of the first benchmarks of Intel's upcoming 8-core, 16-thread Core i9-9900K have surfaced. These come from Thai professional overclocker TUM APISAK. A 3DMark database entry shows this processor scoring 10,719 in the CPU tests of the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark. It also had an overall score of 9,862 point when paired with a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card.
