EA Ditches The On The House Program

EA’s “On The House” program was where EA would give away a game for free or “on the house” for a limited time. While many of these games were older, they were still a free game to add to your library. Well it looks like EA will be ending this program. This announcement came alongside the launch of the new Origin Access Premier program, which gives gamers unlimited access to imminent-launch games five days before the official release. This program will be £14.99/$14.99 a month or £89.99/$99.99 a year. It is quite weird that EA axed the “On The House” program as it and Origin Access really do not interfere with each other.

Now don’t worry you won’t be losing the games you’ve already got through the “On the House” program. But if you try and access the “On The House” page you are redirected to the Origin Access webpage. Here is what EA said about cancelling the “On the House” program.

“Origin On the House has been retired and games will no longer be offered through the program. This change won’t affect any games players downloaded from the service prior to that date – those are theirs to keep forever. Even though this chapter of On the House is coming to an end, we’re happy that we got to introduce so many great games to our awesome players. We’re constantly looking for ways to improve our service and give our users an even better experience, and we thank everyone for being part of our community.”

With the new Origin Access gamers will be able to access new titles 5 days before they are released, this includes the upcoming Battlefield V this year and Anthem next year.
