Cooler Master SNA95 Slim Universal Notebook Adapter Review

If you are anything like me, you see a great number of notebooks, netbooks and tablet computers come through your office. If I kept an OEM adapter around for every laptop I had ever serviced, I would have a pirate chest full of tangled booty. Thankfully we have manufacturers who provide us with a simpler solution: the Universal Adapter. Some offerings are cheap and flimsy, while others are quality hardware that make themselves invaluable tools. Today we take a look at the Cooler Master SNA95 Slim Notebook Adapter to see which of these categories it falls into.

Special thanks to Cooler Master for providing us with the SNA95 Slim Universal Notebook Adapter to review!

Unpackaging
Inside the purple and white outer box we find the SNA95 nestled in a two-piece plastic clamshell which is adequate to protect the unit from maker to end user. Inside this protective packaging is the slim SNA95 adapter and power cord, as well as a handy storage bag and users manual. Also included are nine adapter tips and an eight-tip holder. This strikes me as funny because the box and the Cooler Master website both advertise this Universal Adapter as having eight tips when there are in fact a total of nine. For some reason the purple tip is not listed on the packaging nor in any documentation.

  1. i personally don't see the need for this, usually, your notebook should come with one of these… plus it's inconvenient to bring all the adapters around

  3. i'm saying the adapter that comes with your own laptop are much smaller, so why would you need to buy this, it's not like your laptop doesn't come with a power cable.

  7. …It's nice for people like me who either work on laptops or have multiple laptops; Do you know how many times people have brought me their laptops for repair and they “forget” the power cord? so that means I have 45 mins to fix some old dell inspiron or they have to wait till the next day. ALSO, I have two laptop's that I carry with me, an ASUS and an ACER. both of which have different power adapters. Seldom do I have both of them on at the same time and seeing that a large portion of my bag is taken up with power adapters it would be nice to have the extra space for something else.

  9. This device is very convenient, but perhpas only for the person who has to work with many kind of computer and laptops but not for normal user who usually has just 1 or 2. But thanks anyway for a very good review.

  10. Lewislau,

The power cords from laptop manufacturers die. My Acer cord died and my HP cord died. The purpose of this cord is for people who have laptop cords that die…. why buy a replacement specific to ONE laptop when you can buy this for the same price and use it for when your future laptops die. Plus, I can also see the usefulness for the other reasons people mentioned below.
