How big is the ADATA SC735 External SSD?
The ADATA SC735 has a very compact design that looks more like a traditional USB flash drive than an external SSD. It measures just 55 × 28.5 × 12.1 mm and weighs only 13.6 grams, making it small enough to slip into a pocket, laptop bag, or backpack without adding any noticeable bulk.
The main side of the drive sort of has a two-tone design that is mainly black with grey accents. While the outer chassis of the drive is made of a plastic, the SC735 has been tested in accordance with the MIL-STD-810G 516.6 impact-resistance standard and is rated to withstand drops from heights of up to 1.22 meters. This added protection is especially useful for a portable drive that will likely spend much of its time in a pocket, backpack, or laptop bag, where accidental drops and bumps can happen. Since the SC735 uses solid-state storage with no moving components, it is already less vulnerable to physical shock than a traditional portable hard drive. The rating does not make the drive indestructible, but it does provide some extra reassurance that your data should remain protected during normal travel and everyday use.
Flipping over to the back of the drive you’ll find a sliding mechanism which pushes out the USB-C connection on the drive. It is definitely nice that we do have a retractable design for this connection as it remains protected when you are not using it. Having the integrated USB-C connection means you’ll never have to worry about bringing a cable with you.
