ADATA XPG Lancer RGB DDR5-6000 32GB Memory Kit Review

Final Thoughts

So this is really our first time taking a look at a DDR5 kit that is geared towards enthusiasts and I have to say I am really impressed. Just talking about the speeds this kit runs at 6000 MHz with timings of 40-40-40-76 at 1.35V. This is well beyond the fastest DDR4 kits out there and much faster than even the 4800 MHz Crucial DDR5 kit that we took a look at last week.

Not running at more standard speeds of 4800 MHz or even 5200 MHz you are going to want to make sure this kit will work with your Z690 motherboard. We initially installed this kit on a Gigabyte Z690 AORUS Ultra and it would not boot. Once we switched over to the ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Hero we did not have any issues. With constant BIOS updates for the Z690 platform this shouldn’t be an issues moving forward, but you might want to check with your motherboard’s memory QVL list before you go ahead and make your purchase.

Another impressive thing about this memory is that we were able to get an extra 400 MHz out of it, running it at 6400 MHz without even having to adjust the timings or voltage. This is a simple overclock that anyone can achieve really, just enable the XMP profile in your BIOS and then manually set the memory frequency to 6400 MHz.

As far as looks go this is a very sleek kit. I like the design of the heatspreaders and the RGB lighting is good. As I mentioned earlier ADATA uses a thicker diffuser on top of the RGB LEDs so they look like a single light bar rather than individual LEDs. I prefer this and I feel the lighting is more than bright enough. Of course the lighting can be controlled with your motherboard’s RGB software and we had no issue getting ASUS Aura Sync to detect the memory.

Right now this kit is selling at our favorite online retailer for $399, which is not cheap for memory, but DDR5 is going to hold a premium for quite a while. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ADATA XPG Lancer RGB DDR5-6000 32GB Memory Kit a 9 out of 10 score.
