ADATA XPG SX950 240GB Solid State Drive Review

Final Thoughts
ADATA markets this drive as a gaming drive, but it is a drive any user would appreciate. It has really good performance, we saw speeds of 565 MB/s read and 520 MB/s write in ATTO Disk Benchmark and 563 MB/s read and 512 MB/s write in CrystalDiskMark. The linear read and write tests from AIDA64 show great sustained performance and that SLC caching is working properly.

The Silicon Motion SM2258 controller has proven to be a great choice and our results show why so many manufactures are using it. The drive also has a TBW of up to 800TB and ultra-long MTBF of 2 million hours. That is longer than most drives out there. ADATA also backs this drive up with the 6-year warranty, which is double what most mainstream solid state drives offer, and even high-end drives only have 5-year warranties. This shows you that ADATA stands behind their product.

ADATA also has their own SSD Toolbox software which allows you to check up on your drive and perform functions like a secure erase. The 240GB drive which we reviewed today is selling at our favorite online retailer for 134.99. If you are looking for a high performance 2.5-inch solid state drive this is a great choice and one that you know will be reliable.

Overall ThinkComputers gives the ADATA XPG SX950 240GB Solid State Drive a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award.
