As I said in the introduction of this review Bluetooth portable speakers are great because they can be used with pretty much any smartphone and they do not require an extra power source. That is why this is the perfect device for the summer. You can take it with you to the beach, on a hike, out on a boat and the list goes on. While this speaker is not exactly rugged like the Antec SP1, it is going to be pretty hard to actually break it. Keep in mind it is made of mostly plastic.
Getting the Xtreme S2 set up is extremely easy. It look maybe 10-15 seconds to get it paired with my iPhone 5s. The speaker even talks to you to let you know if its in pairing mode, if its low on battery or when you power it on or off. Even if you are not very tech-savvy you should be able to get the speaker setup.
Of course this is a speaker so audio quality is very important. The Xtreme S2 is more than loud enough for most situations. Don’t expect to use it for a massive house party, but it is powerful enough to fill a small to medium-sized room with music. I had it out on a friends boat and it worked great. The bass is quite powerful and sounds good as well. I also took a few calls using the speaker and it worked great. People on the other line said they could hear me clear and it did not sound like I was far away or anything like that.
Right now you can pick up the Xtreme S2 at my favorite online retailer for $39.99 which is a great price. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Adesso Xtreme S2 Portable Bluetooth Speaker a 9 out of 10 score.
– Good sound quailty
– Easy to setup
– Can take calls
