AIAIAI TMA-2 HD Wireless Headphones Review

Final Thoughts

I always try to go into a review without any presuppositions. However, having owned the Fnatic Duel, which is a TMA-2 headset that’s private labeled, I knew the TMA-2 HD Wireless was going to be good. But I didn’t expect it to be this good. I can honestly say that the TMA-2 HD Wireless from AIAIAI is not only the best Bluetooth headphones I’ve ever used, but the best headphones I’ve ever used. I consider myself a bit of an audio snob. I’ve owned the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Wireless and I currently own the Bose QC35 wireless headphones. However, I feel the TMA-2 HD Wireless from AIAIAI is superior to both in not only the sound quality but also comfort. Sure, the TMA-2 HD Wireless may not have active noise canceling. However, the memory foam on E08 earpads is dense enough to help drown out much of the ambient noise. Using the E04 PU Leather earpads help to cancel out noise slightly better than the Alcantara on the E08 earpads, but only very slightly.  I also feel the customization that comes with the modular system and the TMA-2 builder is worth far more than active noise canceling. That being said, my sources tell me AIAIA is working on a version of the TMA-2 with active noise canceling.

The sound quality from the TMA-2 HD Wireless is amazing, to say the least. Personally, I prefer the S02 drivers as they produce deeper and more punchy bass. However, the S05 speaker units that came with the TMA-2 HD Wireless do sound great. Where I think they truly shine in with acoustic performances. I especially enjoyed listening to Nirvana’s Unplugged album using the TMA-2 HD Wireless. The sound is crisp, clean, and clear. But even playing rap music with heavy bass, the S05 drivers still produced a fair amount of bass. Even using the Sound Blaster AE-5 Plus and its bi-amp technology, the S05 drivers stood up to everything we threw at it, with zero issues and no distortion.

I loved watching movies using the TMA-2 HD Wireless. I used the Dolby Digital Audio and DTS Connect features of the AE-5 Plus to simulate 7.1 surround sound on the TMA-2 HD Wireless and it was amazing! The Dolby and DTS features worked with movies, TV, and video games. Generally, when testing audio products, I watch clips of movies. However, I got so immersed in the first part of the final Harry Potter film, I finished it and moved on to part two. Using the TMA-2 HD Wireless with virtual surround sound on open-world games such as The Wither 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, or GTA V is a great experience. The sound is so clear that you can here games like never before.

I was already accustomed to the feel of the TMA-2, so I knew the TMA-2 HD Wireless would be comfortable. However, with the H05 headband being Bluetooth, I had expected it to be far heavier than my Fnatic Duel. But I was wrong. The TMA-2 HD Wireless are rather light, especially for Bluetooth headphones. With heavier headphones or more with a gaming headset, your neck can get tired over extended periods of time wearing them. This was never the case with the TMA-2 HD Wireless. I wore the TMA-2 HD Wireless for upwards of six hours straight at times and never experienced enough discomfort to have to remove them. I just can’t say enough good about the TMA-2 HD Wireless from AIAIAI. Now, these headphones do come at a premium. At the time of this review, you can get the TMA-2 HD Wireless from the AIAIAI website for $350 USD. But even at the price of $350 USD, you will not find a pair of Bluetooth headphones in that price range, better than the TMA-2 HD Wireless from AIAIAI. But the best part of the TMA-2 is the customization. If the TMA-2 HD Wireless is a bit too pricey for you, you can take advantage of their TMA-2 Builder or one of their many TMA-2 Presets like the TMA-2 All-Round that starts at $145 USD and upgrade when you can afford. With the combination of comfort, battery life, and amazing sound quality not to mention the customization options, ThinkComputers gives the TMA-2 HD Wireless a 10 out of 10 score and our Editor’s Choice Award!
