AMD Radeon HD 7990 CrossFireX In The Wild

I looks like someone has got their hands on a pair of AMD Radeon HD 7990 “Malta” reference-design graphics cards. Someone sent the photo you see below to the guys over at TechPowerUp, which shows the two cards in operation inside of a pretty nice looking system. Just late last month AMD surprised everyone by showing off the HD 7990 at the Game Developers Conference (GDC).

The embossing of “Radeon” on each card clearly shows that they are not AMD FirePro S10000 cards. Also last years dual HD 7970 cards that were part of the “New Zealand” line used three 8-pin connections. The newer “Malta” series cards are made to be more energy efficient and as you can see in the photo they only use dual 8-pin power connectors. No word yet on an official release date on this card.

About 10 years of computer experience. Been messing around with electronics since I was 5, got into computers when I was in highschool, been modding them ever since then. Very interested in how things work and their design.
