The official specifications and pictures of the upcoming Radeon R9 295X2 have been unveiled by the guys over at VideoCardz. These photos and slides give us all the information we have been wanting to know about AMD’s dual-GPU card.
So the first thing that we can now confirm is that the AMD Radeon R9 295X2 will feature two full Hawaii-XT GPUs. This means the card will have 5632 stream processors, 352 TMUs, and 128 ROPs. Clock speeds of the card have been maintained at 1018 MHz. The card will have 8GB of GDDR5 memory that will run across a 512-bit x2 memory bus. The memory will be clocked at 1250 MHz (5000 MHz effective). The official specifications also reveal that the card will in fact have a TDP of 500W.
Power to the card comes in the form of dual 8pin power connectors. Each of the Hawaii-XT cores have a 5+1 VRM, the same as on the Radeon R9 290X. Each of the Hawaii-XT connected using a PLX chip and xDMA technologies will help improve scaling efficiency. Display outputs do include four DisplayPorts and a single DVI slots. This card should handle 4K and Eyefinity resolutions no problem.
To keep both Hawaii-XT chips cool AMD has gone with a new hybrid cooling design which they are calling Project Hydra. This design makes use of a 120mm radiator that can be equipped with two fans. The 120mm radiator connects to two cooling tubes that go to individual GPU blocks on each GPU. The cooling solution is made by OEM Asetek who make watercooling solutions for many different companies. At the center of the card is a red 92mm fan that will light up red when the card is powered on. The shroud is silver and black, which is something new for AMD. There is a Radeon logo on the side of the shroud that will also light up when the card is in operation.
The leaked slides also show some performance numbers. The R9 295X2 is shown to have 16,000 3DMarks, which is almost double of what the Radeon R9 290X gets. Of course these are promo slides from AMD so you are going to have to take their word on it.
Below you can see the rest of the slides AMD provided.
No pricing has been reveal yet, but we expect it to be around the $1499 price range. As always check back as we will be following the R9 295X2 leaks and releasing very closely.
