AMD Radeon RX 6950XT Drops To $599 At Newegg

It seems like NVIDIA’s newest desktop GPU is struggling to make sales in the market, and things just got even tougher with ASRock’s latest deal. They’ve dropped the price of their custom-designed Radeon RX 6950XT Phantom Gaming GPU to $599.99, by offering a coupon code (“VGAEXCAA552”) that brings the price below $600 for the very first time. This makes the RTX 4070’s $599 price even less appealing in comparison.

RX 6950XT came out in May 2022 with a price tag of $1,099, but now it’s dropped by $500 in less than a year. The Phantom Gaming version is a factory-overclocked model that has a game clock of 2166 MHz and a boost clock of 2324 MHz, which is a slight improvement of 0.8% and 0.6% compared to the AMD reference specifications. It also comes with a triple-fan and 2.8-slot cooling system that uses 0dB technology.

Similar to many other graphics cards that use the Navi 21 KXTX GPU with 5120 Stream Processors, this model also needs three 8-pin power connectors to run and has a typical board power of 335W. ASRock suggests using a 900W power supply for this particular card. It’s certainly a different league compared to the RTX 4070, which only needs 200W of power. However, it’s a fact that both cards can now be purchased for less than $600.

One major disadvantage of the RTX card is its smaller memory capacity of 12GB and a memory bus of 192-bit, whereas the RDNA2 card boasts a larger 16GB memory capacity and a 384-bit configuration. However, the RTX 4070 does offer support for DLSS3 and consumes less power. For fans of Radeon GPUs, there’s an added bonus of a new game bundle. This particular card comes with a free copy of The Last of Us Part 1, which is worth $60 and comes with any Radeon 6000 series GPU.

Gamers now have a variety of powerful GPUs to choose from, regardless of which one may be superior. It’s possible that NVIDIA might also consider reducing their prices in response.
