Video & Gaming Testing
We have added video and gaming testing to our CPU tests. We do this to see if there is a difference in overall gaming performance when using different processors.

First up we have 3DMark. From the 3DMark tests we will be recording to CPU or physics scores from the test. We will be running the Time Spy benchmark as well as the Fire Strike Ultra benchmark.

Now are will move on to Ashes of the Singularity. Here will be running the GPU Focused benchmark at the “Standard” quality setting. We will be running the benchmark at 1080P, 1440P, and 4K resolutions.

Batman Arkahm Origins is a game we typically use in our video card testing suite as it has a built-in benchmark. We are running the gaming with everything set at DX11 Advanced, once again we will be running this benchmark at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K resolutions.

We round out our gaming tests with The Division, which also has its own built-in benchmark. We run the game at the “High” quality preset with V-Sync turned off, and DX 12 turned on. We again run this at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K resolutions.

  1. So, you say the Ryzen is lacking in game performance, but the FPS difference between the it and the i5 was never more than 5fps in your testing. If you had left DX12 enabled, it would have performed better than the i5 in Division. You gave it praise, but it seems like you were doing your best to show it as not being as good as the Intel chips, even though the FPS differences would not be noticeable day to day. Now, if you were giving more data, like minimum frames, etc, it might make your exaggerated graphs seem less biased.

  2. DX12 was enabled in The Division tests. And if you look at the results the Ryzen chips do fall behind in all gaming tests, to Intel chips that are two generations old, even its ~5 FPS its a common theme among our tests and tests we’ve seen from others. No bias just straight results from our tests

  3. That’s all cool, but where are overclocked gaming results? Biggest advantage of this cpu in particular is that it’s unlocked, right? Even with wraith cooler this cpu can be oc-ed to at least 3.8ghz on an average b350 motherboard. This cpu gives great bang for buck, better than all intel chips besides coffe lake and 7700k.

  4. Ridiculous graphs for the gaming benchmarks…showing a zoomed in look at the end of the bars, rather than the whole bar. Gives the illusion that the Intels are much faster when really they are only a teeny tiny bit faster. Just to echo the previous comments below.
