The powerful 16-core AMD Raphael CPU doesn’t require extravagant cooling to set world records. Sampson and blueleader have now smashed four records after being granted permission to reveal their Ryzen 9 7950X findings. It’s not very remarkable that all four have been cracked using the most recent CPU, but the fact that none of the cracks required liquid nitrogen is astounding.
Both overclockers broke four records while using AORUS X670E Xtreme, ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme, ASRock’s X670E Taichi or MSI X670E MEG ACE motherboards with a Corsair H115i liquid cooler AIO cooler: For example, Cinebench R15, R20, R23, and 7-zip.
According to Benchmate’s records, the CPUs have been operating at a frequency of 5.45–5.50 GHz across all cores while maintaining a temperature of 87.4–108.2 degrees Celsius. It can also be seen from the data that Ryzen 9 7950X has been operating at between 226W and 244W of power, which is well within the maximum power range for the AM5 socket.
The embargo on Ryzen 7000 reviews may be lifted by AMD as early as September 26th, the day before it goes on sale and the day before Intel unveils its Raptor Lake CPUs.
