AMD Threadripper 3990X Pushed to 5.5 GHz!

AMD’s recently released Threadripper 3990X is a beast with its 64 cores and 128 threads and is clocked at 2.9 GHz base and 4.3 GHz boost. Since its release overclockers have been busy pushing the massive chip to its limits. World records for this chip keep on being set, even as we speak. First there was overclocker “TSAIK” who set the frequency record on the chip at 5,548.7MHz (55.5x multiplier) using a MSI Crteator TRX40 motherboard. This record did not last long though as it was beat by overclocker “SAFEDISK” who got his 3990X to 5,573.7MHz (55.75x multiplier) using the ASUS Zenith II Extreme Alpha motherboard.

Another benchmarking record that was also broken with the 3990X was the Cinebench R20 world record, which was set by SPLAVE. He took a 3990X overclocked to 5,305.9MHz and ran it through the benchmark scoring 39,518.
