AOKZOE has introduced their newest gaming handheld, named the A2 Ultra. Instead of AMD Ryzen APUs, this device features an Intel Core Ultra processor based on the Meteor Lake architecture. It marks the second significant release of a handheld powered by an Intel CPU, following the MSI Claw.
Both handhelds will be powered by the same processor variant, identified as the Core Ultra 7 155H (with the Claw also offering the Ultra 5 135H). This specific model showcases a 16-core setup, comprising 6 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores, and 2 low-power cores, with a CPU boost capability of up to 4.8 GHz. Additionally, this processor integrates Intel Arc graphics, featuring 8 Xe-Cores running at speeds of up to 2.25 GHz. While this configuration stands as the highest within the Core Ultra 100 lineup, it falls short in frequency compared to the ‘165H’ or ‘185H’ models.
Furthermore, it’s been officially announced that the handheld will sport a 7-inch 1920×1200 screen, which appears to be identical to the one found on the A2 non-Ultra device running on the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U. The Core Ultra 7 155H will be coupled with LPDDR5X-7467 memory, set to be available in 32GB and 64GB variants. This represents a notable improvement over other popular handhelds (such as the Claw), which are all capped at a 16GB capacity. Whether gamers actually require more remains a separate discussion.
Moreover, the A2 Ultra will include support for PCIe Gen4 SSD in a 2280 form factor. It’s reported to have a single fan for heat dissipation. Beneath the casing, there’s a 12600 mAh battery, promising at least 3 hours of continuous gaming sessions (though the power consumption isn’t specified). Like the Claw, the A2 Ultra is compatible with WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, features not found in AMD-based handhelds.
It’s confirmed that the A2 Ultra will run on Windows 11, as teased by the company in prelaunch presentations. However, pricing and availability dates are yet to be confirmed.
