CES 2019 Brings Us The ASRock X399 Phantom Gaming 6 Motherboard

This year at CES 2019, ASRock was showing off many new motherboards, and one that stood out to us was a brand new X399 gaming board. Built for AMD’s Threadripper X Series of CPUs, the X399 Phantom Gaming 6 hosts a lot a great features that gamers and content creators alike will be happy to see. Not only are the compute benefits of Threadripper available, but support for both 3-way SLI and CrossFireX are there too.

The X399 Phantom Gaming 6 includes support for 3400Mhz DDR4 and higher, and has room for up to eight DIMMs. Three reinforced PCIe x 16 slots allow for the 3-way GPU setup, while eight SATA3 ports and three Ultra M.2 slots are on storage duty.

One thing we really liked seeing on the X399 Phantom Gaming 6 board was the inclusion of not just Gigabit Ethernet and add-in support for wireless, but the implementation of 2.5Gbps Gigabit LAN via the Dragon RTL8125AG chip. We can’t wait to see more 2.5Gbps and 5Gbps solutions, and seeing one of them here shows us that it is on the way.

Now a gaming motherboard in today’s world wouldn’t be complete without some RGB lighting, so ASRock has illuminated the chipset heatsink for a bit of on-board lighting. There are also two RGB LED headers, as well as a single addressable RGB LED header, so you will have plenty of options for illumination customization.

The ASRock Phantom Gaming 6 motherboard will have a retail price of $249.99, which is absolutely amazing, considering the pricing of previously released Threadripper motherboards. Bringing the price down this low will open up a whole new category of build components for builders that have to keep budget at the forefront of their system.
