Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1200W Power Supply Review

First Looks
The Silent Pro Gold is slightly larger than the standard power supply, but not by much. The 1200W of power has to fit somewhere in there! Haha.

It’s a black chassis with gold and white lettering and graphics. The output table is on the top, as are the certification logos. The rear has hexagonal honeycomb grating for improve airflow, as well as the power cable socket and a rocker switch. The bottom has a 120mm fan with a gold grill.

The connector end of things has seven connectors: two for PCI-Express and five for other devices, including SATA and 4-pin. When combined with what’s built into this hybrid modular unit, the set of modular cables includes a floppy connector, four 4-pin device connectors, nine SATA connectors, four 6-pin PCI-Express connectors, four 6+2-pin PCI-Express connectors, two 4+4-pin EPS/ATX CPU connectors, and a 20+4-pin motherboard connector.

Most interestingly, these modular cables are…flat. The built-in ones are rounded and sheathed. I’m not sure how I feel about this. I’ve prefered rounded cables for as long as I’ve been reviewing power supplies. I prefer rounded cables because I find them easier to hide and more aerodynamic.
