Corsair 6500D Airflow Case Review

Corsair 6500D Airflow Overview

While we’ve seen many of these sort of aquarium-style cases be pretty small, the 6500D Airflow is quite a large case. The official dimensions are 481mm x 328mm x 496mm and even without hardware installed the case is quite heavy. The case is mostly made of steel with even the front and top panels being steel, which is definitely nice to see. As you can see we do have the white version of the case, but as I mentioned it does come in black as well.

Starting at the front of the case we of course have that large mesh section and then white accent panels on each side. These panels as I said are steel, not plastic which I love to see. On the larger accent panel is a simple Corsair logo. There is a mesh filter that pulls out front of the case, it extends the entire length of the bottom of the case.

The front mesh section of the case easily pulls off to reveal the cooling bracket behind it. This section actually has a fine mesh filter built into it to help keep dust out of your system. The front cooling bracket supports either three 120mm fans or two 140mm fans or radiators up to 360mm.

Moving up to the top of the case the mesh continues as we have a large ventilated section that takes up most of the top of the case. Just like the front of the case this section easily can be removed. There is a little tab at the back that will help you lift it off. With it removed we can see that it does not have the fine mesh that the front of the case has. This is good because in most situations the top of your cases will be used for an exhaust. The top cooling bracket will support either three 120 / 140mm fans or radiators up to 360mm. It is worth noting that both the front and top cooling brackets are not easily removed from the case. On the far right of the4 top of the case you’ll find your buttons and connections. There is a large power button, headphone / microphone combo jack, a USB 3.2 gen 2 Type-C port, four USB 3.2 gen 1 Type-A ports, and a smaller reset button.

The main side panel of the case is a large tempered glass side panel. This will allow you to fully show off your system. The panel sits on a hinge design and open like a door quite easily. There is a screw on the top hinge that makes it so you can’t remove the panel fully, but once removed you can easily slide the panel off of the case entirely.

Taking a look at the back of the case we can get a better idea of the dual compartment layout of the case. On the main side we have a cooling mount that will support a single 120 / 140mm fan, our motherboard mount, and some ventilation. There is also a velcro strap at the bottom of the case that can be used to organize all of the cables coming out of your motherboard.

Moving over to the other side at the top we find a ventilated door that is held into place by a single thumbscrew. Removing the door we find two removable hard drive trays that support either a single 3.5-inch drive or 2.5-inch drive. Each of these trays are made of plastic. Moving down we find out power supply mount, which we can see is a vertical mount.

The opposite side panel of the case is completely mesh, which is actually nice to see as we want as much airflow as possible for the components in the backside compartment. This panel is held in place by two captive screws which do have washers on them so you don’t end up wearing the paint off of the case.

The case is lifted off the ground by a four feet. These feet are actually a set of two long pieces of steel, again really nice to see this over the typical plastic feet.
