Corsair 6500D Airflow Case Review

Installation

When it comes to installation you are going to likely want to remove both panels from the case and then lay it on its side to install your motherboard. With a lot of space it is quite easy to get our motherboard installed.

After our motherboard it is time to install our hard drive. I opted to use one of the 2.5-inch mounts. I simply remove it from the case, install my drive, and reinstall it.

Our power supply is next. It goes in quite easily in the vertical mount in the backside compartment. Make sure you install your power supply with the fan facing out. For those wondering about clearance, you can install full size ATX power supplies up to 225 mm.

I did decide to install three 120 mm fans in the front of the case. Even though this bracket isn’t easily removed from the front of the case I had no issues installing my fans. The included quick-turn screws really make installing fans extremely easy and save you so much time / frustration.

The last thing we need to install is our graphics card. Of course this goes in quite easily as well.

When it comes to wiring everything up you may notice a handful of hooks throughout the case. Corsair designed these specifically for the cables for their fans, but as you can see I was able to use them with the cable from my Thermaltake fans. While the larger cut-outs below your motherboard are great, it would have been nice to see the rubber inserts installed in them. It would have given this section of the case a more clean look.

The backside compartment really allows you to hide all of our cables and there are plenty of tie-down points for the included zip ties. It would have been nice to see some velcro ties, but I can understand why Corsair did not install them as they would likely block the openings in the motherboard tray for reverse connection motherboards. When its all said and done we have a very clean build!
