Corsair CS850M 850W Power Supply Review

Final Thoughts
Many people have this idea in their head that Corsair only makes these super high-end power supplies. I have heard this multiple times when people have been talking about getting a new power supply or building a new system. While Corsair does have super high-end units, they have an entire power supply offering. The CS line is really made for people who need a good power supply and not all the bells and whistles of their higher-end units. The CS850M we reviewed today fits that description perfectly.

One thing that I really like about this power supply is that Corsair kept it small, so it will be very easy to install in any case that supports ATX power supplies. Also it is semi-modular and it uses flat cables. This means you only use the cables that you need and the flat cables are very easy to work with.

Beyond being easy to install the CS850M has pretty good performance. According to OCCT the fluctuations on the rails were 12V: 1.54%, 5V: 1.56%, 3V: 2.40%. That is not at all that bad considering this is more of a mainstream power supply. On top of that this unit is 80PLUS Gold certified, that means you will get 90% efficiency at 50% load and 87% efficiency at 100% load.

Right now you can pick up the Corsair 850M for around $140 online. Corsair also backs this unit with a 3-year warranty. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Corsair CS850M Power Supply a 9 out of 10 score.
