Corsair iCUE QL120 RGB Fans Review

Corsair iCUE QL120 RGB Fans

Again we received the CO-9050098-WW kit, which is a three fan kit. Corsair will be offering these fans in 120 mm (QL120) and 140 mm (QL140) sizes. You can either buy them in single packs on in the triple pack like we have here. The fans have a black frame with an opaque light ring and opaque fan blades.

One of the new changes to these fans is in the center. Previously Corsair just used stickers in the center of the fan with their logo, but now you have a machined aluminum logo which looks pretty awesome. These are on both the front and back of the fan.

Flipping the fans over to the back we can see that we do have a second light ring and that sleek Corsair logo in the center. Corsair has also beefed up the supports on the fans. They feel stronger and look much better as well.

The frame of the fan has also been redesigned from what we saw on the LL series fans. You still get the vibration dampening pads on the corners and for those wondering the fans are 25 mm thick. The fans will run between 525 and 1500 RPM with an airflow of 13.17 – 41.8 CFM, static pressure of 0.22 – 1.55 mm-H20, and sound level of 18 – 26 dBA.

Coming off of each fan you have two cables, one for power and speed control (4-pin PWM) and one for RGB control (Corsair proprietary connection). The RGB control cable is labeled, which is nice to see.

Since we have the triple fan pack we also received the Corsair Lighting Node Core, which is a 6-fan RGB controller. It will of course only work with Corsair RGB fans though. There are six Corsair proprietary RGB connections on it and it connects to your motherboard using a USB header. It gets power from a SATA power connection. Corsair does provide double-sided 3M tape so you can easily mount the controller in your case.
