Cougar 600K Gaming Keyboard Overview
The Cougar 600K looks very much like the 700K, the only real difference is that the 5 programmable G keys are missing from the 600K. The 600K has the same aluminum chassis design. This not only insures that the keyboard will last a long time, but also will help typing efficiency.
This is a full-size keyboard so you have a full compliment of keys and a full number pad. Cougar has gone with a black design on the keys and wrist rest with the silver of the brushed aluminum on the rest of the keyboard.
The keys themselves on this keyboard are Cherry MX blue keys. You do have the choice is any of the four Cherry MX flavors if you like.
At the top left corner of the keyboard there are four different repeat rate buttons. These allow for quick adjustment of the repeat rate of the keyboard, especially useful for games which require pressing repeatedly a specific key.
Moving over the opposite side of the keyboard there are a few other specific function keys. There is a brightness key that will adjust the brightness on the backlit keys, a Windows lock key, and multimedia keys that include play/pause, stop, back, forward, mute volume, volume up and volume down.
The palm rest as I mentioned before is removable so if you don’t have the need for it you don’t have to install it. On the left side is a raised section that Cougar calls the FPS palm rest. It will provide support when you are using the WASD keys. This section can actually be removed as well and even put on the right side of the wrist rest.
Moving around to the other side of the keyboard there is an extra USB port which will make it easy for you to connect your mouse or gaming headset if you are say at a LAN party.
The keys are arranged in a way that the first three rows of keys are angled downward while the last three rows are angled upwards. This should make for a very comfortable feel The keyboard also offers height adjustment by way of two pop-out feet on the bottom of the keyboard.
The cable on the keyboard is pretty thick and is braided. It splits into two connections on the end, one for the keyboard and one for the USB passthrough port. Each of these connections are gold-plated.
