Creative Sound Blaster X3 Review

Creative Sound Blaster X3 Overview

The Creative Sound Blaster X3 is an external device made to sit on your desk. Its overall footprint is not all that big with official dimensions of 129 mm x 129 mm x 40.6 mm, which means you should be able to easily find a place for it on your desk.

On the top of the unit you have a very large dial which of course is for volume adjustment, but it is a multi-function dial. There is a LED ring around it which will change color based on the function you are controlling. Also on the top of the unit are three buttons which are Audio Balance, Mode, and Super X-Fi. The first button will cycle through microphone and audio balance control. The mode button allows you to cycle through three “presets” which are Music, Movies, and Footsteps Enhancer. The final button will enable or disable Creative’s Super X-Fi technology.

At the front of the unit there are two 3.5mm connections. The one on the left is for a microphone and the one on the right is for headphones. The Sound Blaster X3 is capable of driving headphones with high impedance ratings of up to 600 ohms.

Moving around back we have quite a lot more connections. There are four connections for connecting an analog 7.1 surround sound setup, line in, an optical out, and a USB-C. The USB-C is great to see and the single USB cable that comes with it will power the unit.
