ESPN2 Airs Heroes of the Storm Tournament on National TV

Last night if you happened to tune into ESPN 2 and were looking for NBA Playoffs, NHL Playoffs or baseball action you wouldn’t find it. Instead you found live footage of college students playing Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm.

Heroes of the Storm on ESPN 2

This was all thanks to Blizzard’s partnership with the network. So viewers got a solid 2+ hours of gaming on national television, complete with a live audience and professional eSports commentators. Artosos and Day9 called the Heroes of the Storm matches on ESPN 2. This is not the first time that we have seen eSports on TV though, DOTA2 made its national TV debut last year.

The tournament that was going on was called Heroes of the Dorm with the winning team snagging full scholarships for the rest of the time they are in college, so the stakes were very real.

As you can expect many people were not happy to see eSports or video games on ESPN 2 and they took to twitter to give their two cents. Here are some of the funny ones.
