Far Cry 6 PC Performance Boosted By 44% After Enabling AMD FSR

Today, AMD shared a new Far Cry 6 ‘featurette’ video. The video gave fans a glimpse of the performance boost they can expect when enabling Fidelity FX Super Resolution.

The screenshot from the scene shows that the FSR increments the frame rate by almost around 44%. However, the FSR, other graphic settings (including whether or not the ray-traced reflections and shadows were enabled here), and the fact that whether an AMD PC was used are unknown. The featurette promises dedicated performance optimizations for AMD Ryzen CPUs and AMD Radeon GPUs, which isn’t a surprise since Far Cry 6 is an AMD-sponsored game.

A couple of months ago, Ubisoft’s 3D Team Lead Programmer, Stephanie Brenham, talked about the studio’s experience during the implementation of AMD FSR in Far Cry 6.

Far Cry 6 will launch on October 7th for PC (Windows) Amazon, LunaPlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and Google Stadia.

To push the visual fidelity of Far Cry 6 and an immersive gaming experience, we’ve been collaborating with AMD to implement next-gen rendering techniques, like DirectX ray tracing and AMD FidelityFX features. When implementing these next-gen features we were challenged, because we want the majority of players an enjoyable smooth experience without having to turn their settings down. Using AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution helps us address this problem, because it means more players can enjoy Far Cry 6 with their graphics settings cranked up without compromising framerate. FSR is a cutting edge spatial upscaling solution. It’s easy to integrate into our development pipeline and it delivers a substantial performance boost while retaining excellent image quality.”
