Fractal Design Define S2 Case Review

Final Thoughts
Fractal Design’s original Define S was a great case and the new Define S2 improves upon it with modern features. This case is definitely one of my favorite cases of 2018 not only with its sleek design, but how easy it is to build in as well.

First lets talk about some of the major new features that the Define S2 has. One of the biggest is the tempered glass side panel. Fractal Design has gone a different route with their design of the side panel, affixing the tempered glass to an actual steel side panel. I think this works much better than an all tempered glass panel. The full length power supply cover is another nice addition. It helps separate the case and allows you to hide many cables in the bottom of the case. The ModuVent system at the top of the case is in its third generation and has been vastly improved.

Internally the case has been designed to support E-ATX motherboards as well as taller CPU coolers. You are also getting three 140 mm fans (instead of the two on the original Define S) included with the case. Talking about fans there is room inside to mount up to 9 fans and the watercooling support is quite extensive. All of the filters on the case are Nylon mesh, which provide 2X airflow compared to plastic filters.

When it came to installation I did not run into a single issue. Everything went into place perfectly. There was more than enough room on the backside of the case to hide most of our cables and the cable routing holes kept the main area of the case nice and clean. This is actually one of the cleanest builds we’ve done!

Fractal Design is setting the MSRP on this case at $149.99, which we feel is spot on for the quality and features the Define S2 offers. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Fractal Design Define S2 Case 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
