When you think of Fractal Design you probably think of their cases. Over the years we’ve reviewed a handful of their cases and have always been impressed. Earlier this year at CES, Fractal told us that they would be releasing a product in a category they’ve never been in before. While I had hoped it would be a NAS designed like a North case it ended up being a gaming chair. Literally everyone is making gaming chairs, but few are actually doing it right, so if anyone could do it right it would have to be Fractal Design. The Fractal Design Refine has been designed not only for gamers, but for the office as well, taking inspiration from Scandinavian furniture design. Read on to see if this chair is the real deal!

Packaging and Building the Fractal Design Refine
The Fractal Design Refine comes in a very large box. If you happen to live by yourself you may need someone to help you get this inside or up the steps.
Opening the box up we find a very nice Thank You note from Fractal with sketches of the chair.
When you fully open the box up you are greeted by a very large picture of the chair. Flipping this over we actually have large assembly instructions, which is a great thing to see.
Getting everything out of the box we have the backrest, seat assembly, armrests, gas lift, wheel base, caster wheels, a box of hardware, and the user’s guide.
I have to say that this is the easiest chair that I’ve ever put together, whether it be a gaming chair or office chair. The big thing is that the base of the chair already has the assembly on it. On most other chairs you actually have to install this yourself. So all you really have to do here is click the caster wheels into the wheelbase, install the gas lift, put the seat assembly on top of the gas lift, attach the arm rests, and then finally install the backrest. The assembly of the chair only took me about 10 minutes and there were only 8 total screws to install!
