Quality. Go-To Solution. Industry Standard. Those are just a few of the terms that might come to mind when you think of the brand Shure. Providing audio solutions since the 1920’s, Shure is a name we are very familiar with here at ThinkComputers, though we haven’t taken a look at any of their products in recent years. Well that changes today, with this review of the MV6 USB Gaming Microphone. This USB-connected microphone is designed to work with a wide variety of setups, including both PC and Mac, and offers software control via the MOTIV Mix app. First impressions can lead to a lasting reputation, so let’s get right into the review, and see how the MV6 represents Shure.
Special thanks to Shure for providing the MV6 review sample!

Packaging of the Shure MV6 USB Gaming Microphone
The MV6 comes in Shure’s standard retail packaging, which provides a good look at the microphone on the front of the box, along with some color-coordinated imagery.
The back of the box is home to a rundown of hardware and software features via graphics and a lite amount of text regarding each one. Sadly, there is no hint of technical specifications that can be found on, or inside, the box. That being said, being a USB microphone does take away a lot of the guess work regarding system compatibility, but it would still be nice to see some of the technical specifications for the product you are considering purchasing.
Inside of the box we find the microphone and all accessories neatly placed in their respective placed in a formed cardboard insert.
Accessories
There typically isn’t much included with USB microphones, but Shure has made…sure…to include all of the necessities. A simple USB Type-C to Type-C cable is included, though I do wish a second Type-A to Type-C cable, or an adapter for Type-A, was included. On many systems Type-C connections are usually quite limited, and having the option to use Type-C or Type-A would be a benefit in my opinion.
Additionally, there is a very sturdy metal base and short vertical stand included for use in a desktop setup. The base features a threaded center for inserting the vertical stand, and a green rubber ring around the bottom side of the base make sure that it stays in place on your work surface.
Not included with the MV6 is any instructional or informational documentation, though the simple images on the inside of the box will lead you to a Shure website to download the associated software.
