Rockstar Games insider tez2 revealed that Grand Theft Auto V might soon become available on PC Game Pass. Previously, the game was only on Xbox Game Pass for consoles, so this would be its first time on PC. Although adding a popular game like this is usually a positive move, it’s unlikely that many gamers will need to take advantage of it. Grand Theft Auto V was released on PC on April 14, 2015, almost two years after its initial release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It has been accessible for over nine years on platforms like Steam, the Epic Games Store (where it was briefly free in 2020), and Rockstar’s own launcher. Additionally, it is currently priced at just $15. The PC version also lacks some of the enhancements, such as ray-traced ambient occlusion and shadows, found in the next-gen console version.

Grand Theft Auto V is now the second best-selling premium game in history, having recently surpassed 200 million units sold. The only game ahead of it is Minecraft, which has sold an estimated 300 million units. Unlike Grand Theft Auto V, Minecraft appeals to a much broader audience, given its family-friendly nature.

Unlike its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V did not receive any single-player DLCs. At least one, featuring the character Trevor, was in development but was shelved in favor of supporting GTA Online due to the multiplayer mode’s immense popularity.

GTA Online continues to receive regular updates. Rockstar released the Bottom Dollar Bounties update last month and plans more updates throughout the summer. The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release in Fall 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X, with a PC version expected about a year to a year and a half later.
