Usage & Final Thoughts
I have been using the HyperX Alloy Origins for the past few weeks now and I have to say my experience has been quite good. The biggest thing about this keyboard is that it is comfortable, especially for longer gaming sessions. I always talk about being “in the zone” when it comes to gaming or typing, and it is very easy to get “in the zone” with this keyboard. The aluminum alloy body gives this keyboard such a solid feel and there is absolutely no flex at all.
HyperX’s new Aqua switches are quite nice and while I’m more of a Blue switch guy, these really surprised me. While these are more like a brown switch, they sort of remind me of a red switch, but with a tactile feel. These are not “clicky” either so you don’t have to worry about annoying anyone who is around you. Another thing I think really made my typing experience great was the ability to choose from three different angle adjustments. Most keyboard only give you two, but with the Alloy Origins you have three.
So the keyboard feels great, but it looks great as well. The aluminum housing with the floating keycap design allows for great under-glow for the RGB LEDs and you have per-key RGB lighting so you can get pretty creative with the effects. I also like that no space is really wasted on this keyboard, it is what it is and doesn’t need anything extra. One thing you don’t find on full-size keyboards is a detachable USB cable, but you have that here and is it Type-C which is a plus too.
HyperX’s NGENUITY software allows you to fully customize the keyboard and in our testing it worked quite well.
Right now this keyboard is selling at our favorite online retailer for $109.99, which is a great price for what you are getting. Overall ThinkComputers gives the HyperX Alloy Origins Gaming Keyboard a 10 out of 10 score!
