Iceberg Thermal IceSLEET X7 Dual CPU Cooler Review

Installation

Getting the IceSLEET X7 Dual installed is not all that difficult, but you are likely going to want to install it outside of your case. The first thing you are going to want to do is remove the center fan from the cooler itself. It actually might be easier if you remove both fans, the front fan easily pulls off the cooler.

Now for our installation we will be installing on a B550 motherboard, so our installation is going to be for AM4. The first thing you are going to want to do is remove the default AM4 mounting brackets. Be sure to keep the AM4 backplate as we will need it.

Next use the included AM4 screws to secure the default AM4 backplate to your motherboard. With those screws in place install the AM4 mounting brackets on each side of the CPU socket, using the included thumbscrews.

Now you’ll need to install the mounting bar to the center of the cooler. This is a bit tricky, especially if you have larger hands as the screw that secures it does not have a screw head so you’ll have to use your fingers.

Taking the included thermal paste and apply it to your CPU, then carefully place the cooler on top of your CPU lining up the screws on the mounting bar with the brackets on each side of the CPU socket. Secure the cooler by tightening the screws on each side.

Before you go ahead and reinstall the center fan you are going to want to find the small connection that comes off of the top of the front fan. This will connect to the small connection on the top part of the cooler. If you don’t connect this the RGB lighting on the top of the cooler will not work.

No just go ahead and reinstall the center fan and put the two side pieces back on the cooler. When it is all said in done this is quite a large cooler. On our B550 motherboard the front fan did hang over our memory slots. Also clearance is tight between our graphics card and the cooler.

When you power your system on the front fan and the top part of the cooler will light up with RGB lighting. As I mentioned earlier the RGB lighting uses a 3-pin addressable header so you can control the lighting with your motherboard’s RGB software.
