MB662US-2S Overview
The MB662US-2S has a very sleek design, it reminds me a lot of the MB664UEB-1S we reviewed last year except this is a 2-bay device not one. ICY DOCK also has made it look even sleeker and more attractive. On the front of the enclosure you have the 2 doors for your hard drive to go into.
The enclosure itself is made of aluminum, which not only helps keep your drives cool but also makes for a slick looking device sitting on your desk. There is a simple ICY DOCK logo on the side of the enclosure. Instead of the pop-out feet that were on the MB664UEB-1S, ICY DOCK has gone with the simple rubber feet. This probably brings cost of the device down.
ICY DOCK has come up with a really cool button system that easily unlocks the drive covers so you can put your drives in. Just press down on the button and it will unlock the drive cover, it’s that simple. As we look inside the enclosure we can see the SATA connectors towards the back and the PCB. If you were wondering this device uses the Silicon Image 5744 chipset.
Finally as we move around back we can see all of the connections. You of course have power, USB, and eSATA. Also on the back there is a small cooling for with its own speed control, RAID setting switches, power switch, reset button, and a lock port.
