Inno3D, Gigabyte, and GALAX has announced their GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition graphics cards. Founders Edition graphics cards from NVIDIA are the reference-design GeForce GTX 1080 / GTX 1070 cards with a $100 premium over the “suggested” starting price of non-reference cards.
For those who do not know these are merely reference-design cards that look good (with the new shroud design), but do not have any real technical advantage over non-reference cards. NVIDIA is hoping to capitalize on the crowd that loves the NVIDIA brand and prefers reference-design cards. All GTX 1080 Founders Edition cards will be prices at $699 and will go on sale May 27th. Non-reference cards will start at $599.
