This CPU is no longer shrouded in mystery, having reached retailers worldwide and leaked both inside and outside its packaging. Some enthusiasts even secured the chip ahead of its official release, as noted last week.
Intel is scheduled to release the Core i9-14900KS CPU on March 14th at 8 AM (PDT), just 7 days from now. Although the pricing remains unconfirmed, indications from retailer listings suggest it will likely align with the Core i9-13900KS, estimated around the $750 US mark.
The Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU, set to be the fastest chip and hold the highest clock speed globally upon release, shares the same configuration as the Core i9-14900K. With 24 cores (8 P-Cores + 16 E-Cores), 32 threads, 36 MB L3, and 32 MB L2 cache, this processor boasts impressive specifications. Per-core clock speeds reveal 6.2 GHz across a maximum of 3 P-Cores and 5.9 GHz across all cores. Additionally, the E-Cores are clocked at 4.6 GHz across 3 cores and 4.5 GHz across all cores.
In order to attain these high frequencies, Intel appears to have maximized the voltages for the Core i9-14900KS, setting them at a default 1.5V. It comes with a PL1 TDP of 150W and a PL2 rating exceeding 253W. Being a meticulously binned chip contributes to its ability to consistently maintain these high clock speeds, voltages, and power limits. In contrast, the standard 14900K CPU struggles with increased voltages, power limits, and temperatures, often encountering stability issues in games and applications.
