Videocardz has received photos of the upcoming Z790 motherboard series from ASUS, MSI, and ASRock. It’s easy to see that the boards pictured here do not include the complete lineup. There are significant gaps in both high-end series and DDR4 memory options. Mini-ITX Z790 boards have also been displayed for the first time, so you can expect to see them in stores soon.
Up to 8 PCIe 3.0 lanes and 20 PCIe 4.0 lanes are supported by the Z790 chipset. Additionally, the processor provides four lanes of the next-generation PCI Express (PCIe) 5.0 standard, with sixteen in total. The USB 3.2 Gen2x1 (10 Gbps) ports on the 700 series boards will be more (up to 5) than those on the 600 series boards.
The 13th Generation Core series is compatible with DDR4-3200 and DDR5-5600 JEDEC spec memory, while high-end boards will likely enable XMP3.0 overclocking settings that can reach above 7000 MT/s in some circumstances. Although we do not have detailed specifications, these pictures should give you a good idea of what you may expect from the boards.
