Melgeek Mojo84 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard Review

Melgeek Mojo84 Keyboard Overview

Taking a first look at the Mojo84 let’s talk about size. This is a 75% or 84-key keyboard with official dimensions of 327 mm x 140 mm x 46 mm (LxWxH). If you are not familiar with a 75% keyboard it is a Mini-TKL (tenkeyless), so you are still getting your arrow keys, some function keys, and and a full function row. With this you have a footprint that is slightly larger than a 60% keyboard, which people with limited desk space will definitely appreciate.

Now when it comes to looks this is one of the most visually appealing pre-built keyboards that I’ve seen. While Melgeek’s previous Mojo68 was available in a few different color options the only option here is their plastic see-through design. This uses a clear see-through casing which just looks amazing and as I said really makes this keyboard stand out.

In terms of the keycaps you do get the option between a black or white plastic theme, we of course have the white version. Compared to most keycaps the legends on these are much larger and they do have some pretty interesting sayings on some of the keys like the spacebar says “THIS IS PLASTIC” on it and the backspace key says “NOT FOR RESALE” on it. I actually really like the look of these keycaps, but some may not as they might be too busy.

These keycaps use Melgeek’s MDA profile, which is taller than standard Cherry keycaps, they also are more contoured. As we look at the keyboard from the side we can see that contour. We can also see that this keyboard sits at an angle and there is no other height adjustment beyond this.

The keycaps that Melgeek is using are ABS, but they do have a double-shot design.

Now when it comes to the switches they are actually themed to match the keyboard, which is very cool! These switches are a new custom Kailh PLASTIC switch which is linear in design and has an operating force of 38+10gf, conduction travel of 1.8 +- 0.4 mm, and a total travel of 3.6 +- 0.3 mm. This is a hot-swappable keyboard so you can remove the switch and swap them out down the line if that is your thing.

The see-through casing goes all around the keyboard, it is not just a simple top-plate. On the front-edge of the keyboard it says “CLEAR” and on the top-edge it says “PLASTIC” which is a nice touch. Also on the top-edge is a USB-C connection and slider that switches the different connection modes of the keyboard.

Flipping the keyboard over there are four small rubber feet which will keep it in place on your desk when you are typing. I really do like the attention to detail as even the feet match the theme of the keyboard.
