MSI R9 270 Gaming Overview
Just like all other MSI Gaming Series graphics cards the Radeon R9 270 Gaming features an all black design with red accents. This is meant to match MSI’s Gaming Series motherboards. Sitting on top of the card is MSI’s own Twin Frozr IV cooling solution.
This cooling solution makes use of two cooling fans, a large aluminum heatsink and two copper heatpipes. MSI is using a combination of an 8mm and a 6mm heatpipe here. This should keep the GPU nice and cool and will provide better performance than the cooler on a reference R9 270 card.
Looking at the side of the card we can see how thick the heatsink is. We can also see the two large heatpipes. These heatpipes do not make direct contact with the GPU. On the opposite side there is a MSI logo along with a 6pin PCI-Express power connector.
As far as connection go you have dual DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort. Looking at the back of the card you can see that MSI has gone with a black PCB. Many users will appreciate this as no one wants an ugly blue PCB. From the back view you can also see the retention bracket on the card. This will help with the stability of the card once it is installed in your system.
