Mushkin, a well-known provider of storage and memory components, is at CES 2019, and we got a chance to take a look at their newest products for 2019. This grouping of drives for 2019 is comprised of both SATA and PCIe, as well as 2.5″ and M.2 form factor units.
First up we have the 2.5″ Source 2 drive, a SATA connected unit available in 120GB, 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB sizes. The Source 2 uses the SMI SM2259XT controller paired up with 96-layer 3D TLC NAND flash for read speeds up to 565MB/s and write speeds of up to 530MB/s.
Next up is the PILOT-E, a 2280 sized NVMe M.2 drive that will be available in capacities between 250GB and 2TB. This drive is outfitted with an SMI SM2262EN controller and 64-layer 3D TLC flash for read speeds up to 3.4GB/s and write speeds up to 2.5GB/s.
Finally there is the Helix, and while we don’t have the exact specifications for this drive, we do know that it does offer 64-layer 3D TLC flash paired up with a 4-channel controller.
Both of the PCIe NVMe drives will be available in Q1, while the Source 2 will be available sometime in Q2. No pricing is available for these drives at this time.
